Commitments to use certified palm oil

June 2020 Updates on commitments to use Certified Sustainable Palm Oil as led by the RSPO's campaign to make sustainable palm oil the norm.

Covid19 or coronavirus as its more popularly known, has affected the deadline for the filing of Annual Communications of Progress (ACOP) as dictated by the RSPO.

On this page, we will share ACOPs as they come available from the RSPO. Corporate statements and press releases will be compared to actions shared in the ACOPs so that corporate press releases may be compared to the actions so needed in the Shared Responsibility approach.

Hershey has released its sustainability report for 2020. We will be comparing it to their ACOP to RSPO.

For background information, continue to read below.
As we approach the year 2020 which is the deadline set by many companies to remove deforestation from their supplies, notably the members of the Consumer Goods Forum, how exactly are they planning to do this? In the case of consumer goods manufacturers, how will they address deforestation in raw materials aside from palm oil? Stay tuned as we look into these commitments and analyse what they actually mean.

For commitments towards certified palm oil, the RSPO has created a public consultation on what it calls "Shared Responsibility" towards making "sustainable palm oil the norm." More information on the Shared Responsibility Task Force (SRTF) can be accessed here, with a link to SurveyMonkey where the public can speak up on the decade old problem that producers of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) are producing much more than there is demand for. The RPSO survey requires a high level of knowledge on its certification, which we don't think the average consumer will engage in. For that reason, we have created our own Shared Responsibility Survey that targets the core problem with CSPO, the absence of buyers. Please take a few minutes and share your opinion on CSPO.
