Anti Seedoils Movement in the US Gains Powerful Allies in Trump Administration
- The anti seedoils movement led by social media influencers have gained powerful allies in the legislative halls of America.
- Robert F Kennedy Jr has been appointed by the Trump administration as the Secretary of Health.
- Dr. Mehmet Oz has been appointed to serve as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The challenges to RFK Jr and Dr Oz is huge if the goal is to Make Americans Healthy Again, a popular election slogan.
According to US News coverage on their appointments.
Life expectancy is falling, chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease are soaring and our country is plagued by health inequities. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, American babies born today are expected to live shorter lives than their peers in other high-income countries.
Despite spending more on health care than any other country, our outcomes lag behind. America can – and must – do better.
It came as no surprise that the old establishment which is being blamed for the poor health of Americans have come out to attack RFK Jr’s appointment.
Dr. Ashish Jha who served as the White House COVID-19 response coordinator from 2022–2023. He has been Dean of the Brown University School of Public Health since 2020. was quoted as saying:
"Now look, a lot of us have been arguing for better foods, right? We have too much processed foods. Obviously we have an obesity epidemic that's a real problem. I think the question that I wonder about is how are we going to make those decisions and who's going to make those decisions?"
The way we should be making those decisions is looking at the scientific evidence, the data through analysis. And unfortunately, R.F.K. Jr.'s track record on this is that he's not very, he doesn't really adhere to those analyses. If he lets the career scientists at the FDA and CDC make those decisions, great. I think that would be a good thing, and I think we'd all benefit from it. I just worry his track record, I think raises a lot of concerns for us about how those decisions are gonna get made."
The problem with Dr. Ashish Jha’s opinion to “let career scientists at the FDA and CDC make decisions” impacting all Americans was ridiculed on X with many comments pointing the blame on the poor health of Americans on the very same career scientists at FDA.
Saturated Fats Not as Bad as FDA Says?
The visions of RFK Jr to Make America Healthy Again covers an expansive view where pharmaceutical companies and federal employees can expect a blowback against “mass poisoning by big pharma and big food.”
The Center for Renewing America declared that the time has come to make America healthy again.
This connection among what people eat, how food is grown, how patients are treated as they develop chronic disease, and how taxpayer resources are used to fuel these seemingly disparate industries is at the heart of a bipartisan movement to reverse the collapse of the American people’s health. The time to make America healthy again has arrived.
Dr. Nina Teicholz, author of The Big Fat Surprise has risen to prominence with her non partisan approach for the health of Americans and repeated on The Hill:
No matter where you stand politically, the return of Donald Trump to the White House presents a chance to reshape America’s approach to health and nutrition. His administration will have the opportunity to overhaul outdated federal dietary guidelines, which lack scientific rigor and have long contributed to our country’s chronic disease epidemic.
What makes Dr. Nina Teicholz stand out is her deep dive into medical studies which exposed a systematic coverup of medical studies which did not fit what US agencies like the FDA were told to say by their funders.
These were exposed in a short film which premiered on Youtube with popular influencers Paul Saladino, founder of Heart and Soil along with Drs Chris Knobbe, Nina Teicholz and super athlete Bethany Hamilton who pointed to seedoils in soy, rapeseed, corn as the underlying cause for chronic diseases in Americans.
Was Dr Mehmet Oz right?
Trump’s endorsement of Dr Mehmet Oz as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will undoubtedly create more blowback from the old establishment.
A “wildly popular doctor” for Americans looking for answers for their health problems, Dr. Mehmet Oz was attacked by Science when he said that red palm oil was a miracle cure for longevity. US based groups that profited off an anti palm oil stance jumped on the money wagon and threw in orangutans to gain traction on the internet.
What his critics should have known is that Dr. Oz may have relied on this publication in the National Library of Medicine which reported back in 2009:
In spite of its level of saturated fatty acid content (50%), red palm oil has not been found to promote atherosclerosis and/or arterial thrombosis. This is probably due to the ratio of its saturated fatty acid to unsaturated fatty acid content and its high concentration of antioxidants such as beta-carotene, tocotrienols, tocopherols and vitamin E.
Will this medical science on saturated fats finally be acknowledged for the health benefits of Americans?
Beyond plant-based sources of saturated fats like coconut or palm, what are the health implications of animal-based sources of saturated fats in lard and tallow?
The new US Secretary of Health will no doubt have his plate full as major American industries in fast foods and seedoils resist his ambitions to Make America Healthy Again.
But it will not be social media influencers or coconut or palm oil that will prop up RFK Jr's stance against seedoils. To realize his vision of healthy foods for Americans, the new Secretary of Health for the US will need the support of America's other industry heavyweights in the cattle and pork industries.
